Scenic Drives & Picnic Spots
- Close to the village there are picnic spots and BBQ facilities on both sides of the river beside Kangaroo Valley's most famous landmark, historic Hampden Bridge. There are also BBQ facilities at the showground beside the village swimming pool.
- At Bendeela, 8 kms from the village along Bendeela Road, there is a picnic area with BBQ facilities, public toilets, swimming areas and camping grounds in beautiful green fields beside the Kangaroo River.
- At Tallowa Dam, 23.5kms from the Village via Mt. Scanzi Road and Tallowa Dam Road, the tranquil lake is set in Australian bush with canoe launching facilities, fishing, BBQ, public toilets & picnic area. Spectacular views of the bush, dam and Shoalhaven River with wonderful bird life.
- At Upper Kangaroo River, 12.5kms from the village there are picnic and BBQ facilities and a unique steel wire suspension footbridge. Another 4.4kms takes you to Flat Rock, one of the valley's best swimming holes.
- At Manning Lookout, 14.6kms from the village towards Bowral, a short walk brings you to a viewing area with spectacular views over Barrengarry and the Valley.
- At Cambewarra Lookout 11.1km from the Post Office via the main road to Nowra (turning left at the top hairpin bend) there are tearooms, picnic areas and stunning views over the Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay.
Walking Tracks
There are 23 walks in Kangaroo Valley, from gentle sightseeing strolls around the village, to expeditions for the fit and healthy, with one common denominator; they are all beautiful. The National Parks and Wildlife Service Guide to Bushwalks describes them all comprehensively and is available in most Kangaroo Valley shops.

Places to See
Hampden Bridge
Built over the Kangaroo River in 1898, Hampden Bridge resembles a turreted medieval castle. It is the oldest suspension bridge in Australia and Kangaroo Valley's most famous landmark and photographic site.
Tallowa Dam
A tranquil lake in a wilderness setting wit canoe launching facilites, fishing, BBQ, public toilets & picnic area. Spectacular views of the bush, dam and Shoalhaven River with excellent Bass fishing. No power boats allowed. Tallowa Dam is located 23.5kms from the Village.
Historic Churches
There are three historic churches within Village area, including one by renowned architect Horbury Hunt.
Kangaroo Valley Fudge House and Ice Creamery
The Kangaroo Valley Fudge House is known world-wide for it's mouth-watering homemade fudge. It's been there since 1891 and you don't have to walk through the door to smell the tantilising smells.
Pioneer Farm
A unique look at the Valley's past with original buildings. photos and artifacts including machinery of the district's pioneers. Pioneer Farm museum is located at the north end of Hampden Bridge.
Orchid Images
Australia's first organic orchid nursery. Displays of native & exotic orchids all year round. Free admission. Open 10am - 4.00pm. Wed - Sun. webpage
Barrengarry General Store and Post Office
Step back in time. This fine old store sells everything from grocery items to fishing tackle. Enjoy their famous pies on the old verandah with its spectacular view. Open 7 days.
